Dear Sir,
Thankyou for your enquiry,
The Grounding stud is basically required in situations where the boat suffers from Radio Frequency interference, this does not affect most boats, but in some cases there is RFI problems onboard the boat and in these situations, the AIS700 needs to be grounded to a dedicated RFI ground, not the normal battery negative or the sacrificial anodes of the boat.
I(f there are no issues with RFI onboard, then there is no need to connect the grounding stud.
Kind Regards
Derek Gilbert

I am an owner of A700 ; it work fine, but I am very confused about Grounding earth stud connection;
- in EN manual I read "The Grounding point must be connected to your vessel’s 0V Negative battery terminal. This is NOT an optional connection (page. 32)", and "Vessel battery’s 0V negative battery terminal. Important: You must make this connection for safety reasons; it is not optional (p.26)" so I suppose I MUST connect to battery negative pole..
BUT
- in ITA (my language and my nation) I read "Il punto di Terra deve essere collegato alla terra RF dell'imbarcazione. NON effettuare collegamenti ai punti in cui è collegato il terminale della batteria 0V Negativo. (p.32)" it's means something like :"The ground point must be connected to the vessel's RF ground. DO NOT make connections where the 0V Negative battery terminal is connected" and the connection must be made "Solo imbarcazioni con messa a terra RF(p.26)" it's means something like :"RF grounded vessels only"
SO the ITA manual says the OPPOSITE from EN manual
what must I DO?? (my sailing vessel is in europe-italy)
and what do you mean about RF ground? radiofequency ground?; in this case it normaly used only in metallic vessel, my boat is fiberglass vessel.. must Ido not use the Grounding earth stud connection??
thaks in advance for yours answer
kind regards
